Happy Memorial Day everyone! I have been noticeably absent from my blogging. đ Today is exactly 2 months since my last post. It was not what I planned, but alas it is what happened. During that period there were a couple of closures that I am very sad to report. I’ll do the toughest one first:
Traviata Chocolate and Gelato Café
After 8 1/2 years, Traviata Chocolate and Gelato CafĂ© in Lisle has permanently closed. I found out on April 10, 2015 and probably walked around shocked and lost for a few weeks. đ However, I understand what a big commitment it is to run a brick and mortar business. As much as I miss the visits and my various favorite treats, I understand that we each must do what we need to do to take care of ourselves on all levels. I wish Violeta much success in her future adventures.
Taste of Eastern Europe
The next closure was for one of my favorite places that I had not gotten around to blogging about yet. đ I found out about this one earlier this month when I decided to indulge in my favorite Wiener Schnitzel meal at Taste of Eastern Europe in Crest Hill. The parking lot looked a little empty for lunch, so I first thought I had arrived on a day during the week when they were closed. Unfortunately that was NOT the case. There was a sign on the door stating that as of April 29, 2015, they are permanently closed. Taste of Eastern Europe initially opened in 2008, and I thought they were doing very well. I really do not know why they closed. Their food was delicious, and even their small size/portion was very generous. I could always count on having leftovers whenever I went. I especially liked that the meal price included the soup, entrĂ©e, coffee or tea, and a small piece of dessert (which I always got “To Go”). I wish the owners/management much success wherever they may be.
OK that’s it for now. More to share soon!
