This post is all about Reiki. What is Reiki? How do you pronounce it? What are it’s benefits? This blog post answers those questions and a few more. NOTE: This information is specific to the Usui System of Reiki.
Funny (but true) story. Many years ago, I received a brochure advertising a class for something called Reiki. I honestly had no idea what this was, and searching online at the time was a very different experience. I decided I would take the class just to satisfy my curiosity. I did think the cost of the class was pretty pricey. It was only after I arrived that I realized that I had signed up for a class to actually learn Level I/First Degree Reiki! You could say that initially I was an “accidental” Reiki Student. LOL! Fast-forward to today. These days, you can get a lot of information about Reiki from an online search, but I decided to do a post on the topic anyway.

A Note About Variations
The more you read about Reiki – especially if you’ve experienced a Reiki session or training yourself – you’ll notice variations. For example, in some of the books, there may be different hand positions, and a different sequence of positions throughout a treatment indicated. Interestingly enough, these variations do not detract from the effectiveness of the Reiki energy, which should remain the focus.
Important Note: To become a Reiki Practitioner you must go through an attunement process with a Reiki Master Teacher. Although the use of energy is innate to everyone, it is not possible to become a Reiki Practitioner by only reading a book.
