This Soy Matcha Green Tea Latte recipe complements our recent Tea Time post. I’m super excited about it because we are combining 2 different ingredients that have cancer fighting properties – according to *Eat to Beat Disease author Dr. William W. Li. Those ingredients are matcha green tea and soy. Even better, the soy matcha green tea latte tastes even yummier than the one I made previously using almond milk! And as it turns out, soy milk has more protein per serving than the almond milk. Awesome!
For years I avoided consuming soy products frequently because I thought I had a sensitivity to it. I recently discovered that using organic soy products works much better for me. In our Tea Time blog post we already outlined the cancer fighting details of green tea. For the skinny on soy, take a look at Dr. Li’s Cancer Fighting Foods: Overturning the Soy Myth blog post.

Soy Matcha Green Tea Latte – Recipe Ingredients
1 tsp matcha green tea powder
1 cup hot (not boiling) organic unsweetened soy milk
1 tsp maple syrup or your sweetener of choice
Recipe Instructions
Heat 1 cup of organic unsweetened soy milk until hot but not boiling. Pour it into a very large cup – with room to froth. Stir in the matcha green tea powder of your choice. I used *Jade Leaf Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder – Culinary grade. One thing I realized right away was how difficult it was to blend the matcha green tea powder with the hot milk. Even with a regular whisk! If you have the same challenge, check out this video for making the perfect matcha latte without a whisk.
My Favorite Approach – Modern
For me, I had pretty good results using my handheld milk frother (similar to this *PowerLix Milk Frother) to blend the matcha and foam the milk at the same time. Less time and less dirty dishes. LOL!
NOTE: If you don’t happen to have a milk frother, Jade Leaf actually sells a *Modern Matcha Starter Set that includes an Electric Matcha Whisk/Milk Frother, Stainless Steel Spoon, Stainless Steel Sifter, and a Printed Handbook. They also have a *Traditional Starter Set that has the Bamboo Matcha Whisk (Chasen), Scoop (Chashaku), along with the sifter and handbook.
Whatever approach you use, after you have blended and foamed your Soy Matcha Green Tea Latte, stir in your sweetener and enjoy! Let us know in the comments if you try the recipe.
